The flu is slowly making its way through the United States, as it is now once again flu season. However, this year the flu has come back stronger and infected more and more people. The CDC has found the the flu rates are continuing to increase and we are not exactly sure why. we have lost about 30 children so far to the flu, and there might be more to come. Adults are not as susceptible to death as are children, but there are still cases where adults have also died from the flu.
Whether you have gotten the flu shot or not, there are several things that you can do to prevent from getting sick. Avoid touching your nose, eyes, or mouth because this is the easiest way for germs to travel. Make sure to always wash your hands, preferably using soap and water to get rid of most germs. Make sure to clean and disinfect surfaces that may come in contact with germs. If you know someone who is sick, try to avoid contact with them so that you do not come into contact with their germs. And lastly, if you have not already, get the flu shot. It is highly recommended by many doctors, and can help delay and prevent the effects of the flu. If you or someone you know is already sick with the flu, use these things to help prevent any worsening. Stay home when sick and try not to contaminant more objects throughout the house. Cover your nose and mouth when sneezing and coughing to prevent the spread of germs. Make sure to call your doctor and schedule an appointment so that they can find a treatment plan for you. While it is still possible to get the flu after following these steps, it is always better to do your best to prevent from getting it. If you or someone you love do contract the flu, contact your doctor immediately and wait for further help.
